The Seventh Power? Cinema and Democracy in the Age of Soft Power

Conference
12 Sep.19:30
Consulat Voltaire

As part of the CLIMAX Festival, CUT! invites you to its September conference, open to everyone: The Seventh Power? Cinema and Democracy in the Age of Soft Power.

This discussion will explore how films, shaped by political and economic stakes, help spread representations and impose certain visions of the world order. Cinema is not only an art form but also an industry and a political tool. By constructing narratives and influencing the collective imagination, it shapes our worldview. In today’s democracies, marked by ideological and geopolitical tensions, cinema becomes a strategic space where propaganda, cultural diplomacy, and social critique intersect.
