About us

The Beginning of CUT!

« I love to open the doors of destiny, to follow my instinct and serendipity, awakening encounters and meaningful exchanges. I dream that everything becomes possible when we move with the impulse of the heart, and that by coming together and uniting, we can truly change the world. »

These words open a letter written by Jérémie Renier in December 2022, addressed to six carefully selected recipients. He invited them to engage in a dialogue about the ecological transition of the film industry. To act, unite, support, advance, and share—urgently, necessarily, and actively.

Conscious and committed to environmental issues, Hiam Abbas, Julie Amalric, Swann Arlaud, Cyril Dion, Carole Scotta, and Flore Vasseur promptly responded. With the support of the CNC, already leading a major transition initiative titled Action!, they established a working group with the assistance of Juliette Vigoureux. In January 2023, this collective of eight professionals was officially formed. They began a series of regular meetings with the aim of presenting the outcomes of their discussions at the forthcoming Cannes Festival.

Their mission is to explore the essential transformations the film industry must undergo to become more sustainable. Born from passionate, honest discussions and a rich diversity of voices, CUT! Cinéma Uni pour la Transition (Cinema United for the Transition) came to life.

They crafted a manifesto—now published—and launched two key tools: a platform and a commitment charter for actors and their agents.

The adventure is just beginning.
Change is only getting started.
